Development Update #1


Hello all, welcome to the Development Blog for Witch Craft (title TBC). This is a game mixed with card battles and management. Our team, which consists of two people, was formed in May of 2020, and we are in the process of implementing the designs! 

The story goes like this: You are an apprentice witch, whose master has left for an adventure. You run the potion and spell store in town, taking quests from the villagers, elves and monsters. To complete the quests, you must go on adventures to collect materials and craft items! You will encounter battles with monsters as you explore the biomes; manage your store and garden when you return home. A few weeks later, you received a letter from your master. It seems like they are in trouble! You must rescue your master and bring them back!!

In the last few weeks, we have been making many design choices and trying to figure out a balance for cards. Some cards seem to be inherently more overpowered, and to nerf them is definitely difficult. It either results in the card being too weak, remaining OP, or pointless to run. To that, we suggested making them into late game cards, which players will not be able to acquire very easily, to reduce the spam rate for those cards. (However, they are still very strong, and with some calculations done, they can do 188 damage first turn with a perfect hand, and 1593 damage in two turns.)

We have completed dungeon generations, simple battle systems and some scene transitions. Art has been indecisive about what art style to go for, but currently we have some very sketch-like card art and icons as place holders.
